Personality Theory is only a theory until you apply it in a practical way to your life… then, it ceases to be a theory and becomes (with practice) a necessary tool for incredible relationships.

When we think of Personality Typing, often we think “we can’t be put into a box!”  And, if you thought that you are indeed correct.  Personality traits are broad, and we each have many of the traits.  We generally have a very strong set of traits which stands out above the rest, and then a high secondary set of traits.

With the understanding that we engage in personality study not to judge, criticize or stereo type but to come to even greater leaps in understanding ourselves, our motivation, our core needs, our “wiring” … but also of others.  With application of basic personality typing, we can know which candidate may be better suited for a particular type of position when hiring, we may know that telling a star personality a schedule on Friday for the coming week is a waste of time and breath, and so forth.

A basic underlying theory for personality training is to truly understand and accept

we are different…

I am nothing like you…

You are nothing like me…

With an enhanced understanding of our basic wiring, we can learn to celebrate our differences instead of fighting them!  We can create a rapport with others we have only ever imagined.  We can jetison our frustrations, because while we may not agree or like it, we finally understand the other people who are nothing like me!

More than a toy,

more than a “fun concept,”

taken seriously personality theory can transform every relationship you have from work to those of your children.  You will be better partner, wife, mother, father, son, daughter, boss, co-worker.  You will be a better person.

You will understand you are born with certain inherit areas of opportunity, and you will almost always be attracted to the opposite personality to “fill out” those weak areas.

Sooooo, the challenge to you is to “STOP” requiring, asking, begging and manipulated others to BE LIKE YOU, and to revel in the diversity which makes life interesting.

Having Trouble Getting Motivated?

Success Strategies Coaching - Are You Having Trouble Getting Motivated?

Having Trouble Getting Motivated? Take a look at the Holmes and Rahe Stress Scale, and figure out how much stress and which stress events you have.

By

I think we all find ourselves struggling with motivation at one time or another.

There are varying reasons for not having enough energy or motivation in our lives. And, no, it isn’t because we are just lazy!

Off the cuff, here are a few reasons I can think of for not being motivated:

  • Incomplete projects (which haunt and exact a toll on us, even in our subconscious mind!)
  • Stress (too many stresses and/or directions, projects, events, tasks or people to manage or please)
  • Trying to comply with all the “SHOULDs,” “MUSTs,” “NEED-TOs,” and “HAVE-TOs”
  • Too many people plugged into us, taking our energy, not giving back
  • Not enough people, activities in our life to keep us nourished, nurtured and keeping our love banks full
  • Not having a supportive circle of friends (who are positively motivated)
  • Continually being surrounded by negative people
  • Working in a career field or a job that does not interest or energize us
  • Not eating properly, not getting correct nutrition or exercise

I think that spells out a pretty clear picture of the some of the reasons we are not motivated. If you are having trouble determining reason for stress, check out the Holmes and Rahe Stress Scale, and realize, even GOOD things can be stressful! The Holmes and Rahe Stress Scale is a measurement of how many stressful events have happened to you in one year and the possible effect on your physical health.

While the scale does not give an indication as to the emotional or mental impact of the stress, I believe you can make that hyper-jump yourself.

Now… how to get motivated?

  1. Look at the Holmes and Rahe Stress Scale, and figure out how much stress and which stress events you have. Eliminate or neutralize the ones that are possible, and realize the others have a deadline, termination date or death sentence. For example, you will not be pregnant forever. Also important, we can be the executioner of many of them. We can choose to eradicate many of them by our choices and activities.
  2. Make a list of all incomplete projects, set a deadline for them, and begin to complete them ASAP. Not only will you feel a sense of satisfaction, you will likely feel more energized.
  3. Think of yourself as a power strip. Who is plugged into you and stripping you of precious emotional and physical energy? Evaluate your relationships, determine who is draining your energy and get rid of any deadwood. Stop the needless theft of your energy and time. Focus.
  4. Build, or enlarge your circle of supportive friends; people who are very POSITIVE and who care about you.
  5. Evaluate all the “SHOULDs,” “MUSTs,” “NEED-TOs,” and “HAVE-TOs” going in your mind or coming out of your mouth. Instead of saying, “I should ______,” substitute the word SHOULD with WANT. Now when you say, “I want to _________,” evaluate — do you really WANT to? Decide if you are feeling self-pressure or other pressure to do this thing, then choose what you really WANT to do.

Hope this helps you to evaluate some of the potential reasons you are not feeling motivated.
